Spur Fit and Neck Length for Boot Brands
Make your spur range work with the boots you actually sell. We manufacture spurs and can review the heel-band opening, internal curve, strap route and neck direction against your finished boot. Bring a boot or marked profile, then choose sample sizes around that geometry. A shared fit chart gives your development and purchasing teams a clearer basis for repeat orders.

Straight and Swan-Neck References Create Different Profiles
Keep the fit decision with the finished boot. Relia produces its own spurs and supports customer drawings and logos. Our dimensional and assembly-fit checks follow the selected band, slots and terminal, so a change in neck length does not silently change the boot-contact shape.
Compare profiles against the same boot. The 2581-4R swan-neck has a 50 mm neck reference, while 1318-2R knob-end spurs offer several neck lengths. Keep the measurement starting point and direction consistent so your team can see the actual difference between the straight and raised profiles.

The Finished Boot Is the Fit Reference
A boot size alone leaves too much of the heel shape undefined. Include the rear profile, finished thickness, sole edge and planned spur-rest position. For a boot brand, one representative sample from each actual heel construction is more useful than a generic men’s or ladies’ label.
Capture the curve where the band sits.
Include the lining, outer material and any built-up heel features.
Keep the intended strap and closure with the boot reference.
Use Separate Fields for Opening and Band Size
Measure the available opening independently from external width and band height. Internal curvature can differ even when two products carry the same size name. Mark the location of every reading so your fit chart can be used again at reorder.
| Field | Define on the drawing | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Usable opening | Inside points and measurement height | Relates to the boot at the band location |
| Internal contour | Rear curve and transition into arms | Describes the contact profile |
| Band height | Vertical section at stated position | Separates a wide band from a wide opening |
| Neck length | Start, endpoint and direction | Makes profile comparisons consistent |
Read the Neck in Side View
Straight and swan-neck forms place the terminal differently relative to the band. Compare them against the same boot reference so the change is visible. A short numerical label is not enough: mark the start and end of YF11022AL’s 20 mm reference on the sample drawing.

Check Fit After Forming and Finishing
The band is formed to the selected heel profile, while the neck and terminal retain their own direction and connection details. We arrange the applicable machining or joining work, polishing and surface treatment for that model; any covering remains a separate component of the finished interface.
Our checks cover materials, dimensions, appearance and moving parts or assembly fit. Review the completed spur with the intended boot and strap, keeping the inside opening, rear contour, slot route and neck reference separate. That record lets a later colour or terminal change be compared without losing the boot-fit baseline your range needs.
- Boot input
Record the actual heel construction and target strap route.
- Band geometry
Review internal contour, opening and arm positions.
- Finished sample
Check the complete contact surface and fastening.
- Retained reference
Keep boot version, drawing and approved spur together.
The Strap Route Belongs in the Fit Review
Slot width and clearance need to accommodate the finished strap, including folds or sewn areas that pass through the connection. Button-fastened models need the matching hole or tab arrangement. Review the complete route rather than treating straps as interchangeable accessories.
| Interface | Sample input | Record |
|---|---|---|
| Slotted end | Actual completed strap | Width, thickness and threading route |
| Button tab | Matching strap end | Button shape and engagement |
| Boot contact | Finished boot sample | Band position and available clearance |
Build Sizes from Approved Profiles
The SP6110 · separate ball-tip product reference uses Ladies and Men labels, while YF11022AL carries a 20 mm reference. Use these as model identifiers and convert the selected samples into your own measured chart. That lets sales and purchasing refer to the same fit group.

Keep Fit Decisions Connected to the Range
A retained fit reference makes later tip or finish changes easier to review. It also helps a second supplier distinguish intentional geometry from wear in an old spur. Use the related guides for the next buying decision.
